11/6/2008 - MOSS STREET BANK ROBBERY

Lafayette detectives are asking for residents` help in identifying the woman caught on video robbing a bank in the 2700 block of Moss Street on Oct. 30. 

Investigators obtained and released two photos from the surveillance tape yesterday evening.

Police describe the suspect as a black female, approximately 5 feet 4 inches tall and of medium to heavy build.

She was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with her face covered around 10:15 that morning when she pointed a handgun at tellers and demanded money.

She escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect was last seen driving away from the bank`s parking lot in a four-door silver car with trash bags covering both rear windows.

She was then seen fleeing on Peter Street.

Immediately after the incident, Lafayette police were dispatched via with information about the suspect and the vehicle.

Within minutes of the incident, a police unit stopped a vehicle meeting the description in the 3400 block of Moss Street.

A black male and black female occupied the vehicle and were detained as persons of interest.

The two persons of interest were taken to the Lafayette Police Department and questioned, but were later released. The investigation remains ongoing.
